Anrijs Matīss was appointed Latvian Minister for Transport in March 2013, having been State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport from 2009 to 2013. Matiss was also a Board Member of Ventspils Freeport in Latvia and a Member of the Board of Liepāja Special Economic Zone. Prior to his work in the Ministry of Transport, Matiss was State Secretary of the Ministry of Economics from 2008 to 2009 and Deputy State Secretary Responsible for Industry, Business and Domestic Market Affairs at the Latvian Ministry of Economics.
